Irish business support group to create 100 Manchester jobs in £7m investment

An Irish business process outsourcer in the field of sales and customer services is to create 100 jobs in Manchester following a £7m investment in the city.
It is part of a wider £20m investment by Uniquely across the West Midlands, North West and Scotland.
The company has opened offices in Solihull near Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow and will employ 300 staff by the end of 2025 across the three regions.
The Manchester office is situated in the Manchester International Office Centre in Wythenshawe.
Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, said: “The Irish business community continues to recognise the immense potential of our city region, with Uniquely’s investment perfectly illustrating this connection.
“Their choice of Manchester reflects the depth of our international connections and the welcoming environment we’ve cultivated for global enterprises.
“This represents another milestone in our ongoing partnership with Irish businesses and is a clear signal of the confidence Irish companies have in Greater Manchester’s business landscape.”
Leader of Manchester City Council, Cllr Bev Craig, said: “Uniquely’s £7m investment into Manchester represents a significant economic opportunity for our city region.
“Creating 100 new jobs and strengthening our city’s economic relationship with Ireland, this investment highlights our robust business connections and reinforces Greater Manchester’s position as a strategic location for Irish businesses seeking international growth.
“We look forward to playing a part in Uniquely’s growth journey and cultivating this mutually beneficial relationship between our cities and countries.”
Founder and CEO of Uniquely, Gerard Teahon, said: “This significant investment in Manchester is both the realisation of an important milestone in our journey towards innovation, transformation and growth and a testament to the exceptional talent and innovative offering we provide our increasingly international customer base.”
The investment was highlighted at the first annual UK-Ireland Summit hosted by Prime Minister Keir Starmer and attended by Irish Taoiseach Micheál Martin in Liverpool last week.
The event showcased the world class talent on both sides of the Irish Sea and celebrated the deep ties between the people and cultures of the United Kingdom and Ireland. Despite the challenges in trade posed by Brexit, the UK remains Ireland’s biggest trading partner in Europe.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin said: “I congratulate Uniquely on their plans to create new jobs and invest in its ongoing expansion in the UK, providing solutions for banking, energy and telecoms.
“Uniquely is one of several Irish businesses continuing to play a significant role in the UK economy, while delivering export growth for Ireland.”
Head of business development and marketing at Uniquely, Pat Stack, said: “Establishing our presence in the city region was made possible through the assistance of MIDAS – the inward investment promotion agency for Greater Manchester.
“They supported our investment by providing expert advice around networking, property selection and facilitating introductions to local recruitment agencies. The support from MIDAS has been instrumental in our successful expansion into Manchester, now regarded as one of the most innovative cities in the world.”
