Ryanair adds Budapest link to its Liverpool summer programme

Budget carrier, Ryanair, has launched a new summer holiday route from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to the Hungarian capital, Budapest.
The flight is part of the carrier’s summer 2025 schedule which features 31 routes from Liverpool, including extra frequencies on 18 popular summer holiday routes such as Barcelona, Faro, and Malaga.
The new summer 2025 schedule is underpinned by Ryanair’s five Liverpool-based aircraft, which it says represents a local investment of £386m, including two new Game Changers which have been added to the fleet for summer 2025.
Aircraft manufacturer Boeing’s Game Changers are new aircraft that will carry four per cent more passengers but reduce fuel consumption by 16% per seat, lower noise emissions by 40% and lower CO2 emissions by a similar amount.
Ryanair’s head of communications, Jade Kirwan, said: “Ryanair is pleased to announce our summer 2025 schedule for Liverpool, with 31 routes including an exciting new route to Budapest as well as extra frequencies on 18 popular summer holiday routes such as Barcelona, Faro, and Malaga providing Ryanair’s UK customers with more choice and regular connections at the lowest fares in Europe.”
The airline also took another opportunity to hit out at the Government’s decision to increase short haul air passenger duty (APD) tax levels by £2 per passenger from 2026.
Jade Kirwan added: “Ryanair could be growing more rapidly to/from the UK, but Rachel Reeves’s bizarre decision to raise APD taxes by £2 per passenger damages these growth prospects, and in particular regional UK airports.
“If the UK govternment wants to deliver growth, they should abolish their penal and damaging APD tax, which makes the UK uncompetitive when EU countries like Hungary, Ireland, Sweden and regions in Italy are abolishing aviation taxes, and winning dramatic traffic, tourism, and jobs growth from the UK as a result.”
