Altrincham-based engineering consultancy, Kennedy Redford, is opening a new branch in Dublin, Ireland.

The company says this strategic expansion marks a significant milestone in its sixth year in business, and follows impressive growth in the UK.

The move comes in response to the continued success of the UK team and the appointment of Michael Hurst, a chartered engineer with more than 18 years of experience across the UK, GCC, and Ireland.

Hurst, who will lead Kennedy Redford’s operations in Ireland, has an extensive background delivering large scale projects in sectors such as industrial, education, high end hospitality, mixed-use, multi-storey developments, and residential.

His previous role at Cundall and senior position at KEO International Consultants further enhances the company’s capability to support Ireland’s growing construction sector.

Michael Hurst, managing director of Kennedy Redford Ireland, said: “I’m thrilled to return home to Ireland and reunite with former colleagues as we establish Kennedy Redford here.

“This expansion reflects the strength of the Irish market, and with a strong team in place, we look forward to collaborating with clients and partners on both sides of the water to create new opportunities and drive long term success.”

The company’s expansion into Ireland also aligns with its commitment to job creation and local community involvement.

Kennedy Redford’s short term business plan includes recruiting a talented technical team, with opportunities for engineers at all levels, from graduates to technical directors.

Dan Bradley, managing director of Kennedy Redford UK, said: “I am proud that we can expand our business to support the construction industry in Ireland alongside our UK client base.

“Bringing Michael into the Kennedy Redford business continues the trend of building on historic relationships between the senior management team, who have a mutual understanding of the business’s approach to ensuring a high level of service for all of our clients.

“Michael brings a wealth of national and international experience to the table that has ideally positioned him to lead Kennedy Redford in Ireland.”

Since its inception in 2019, Kennedy Redford has achieved exceptional year-on-year growth in the UK, with annual turnover increasing by an average of 54%.

With its new office in Dublin, Kennedy Redford aims to mirror the company’s UK expansion, where it has grown to more than 30 employees.

Notable work for Kennedy Redford includes a 3,300-bed student residential development for the University of Manchester, four green hydrogen processing sites, and multiple infrastructure and advanced manufacturing projects at Rolls-Royce.
