Ground breaking signals start of work on new Rochdale housing scheme

Ground has been broken on a new 57-home housing development, known as Silver Hill Manor, near Rochdale town centre.

Mayor of Rochdale, Cllr Shakil Ahmed, joined David Wilson Homes North West’s planning director, Andrew Taylor, to officially mark the beginning of the development on Lower Lane.

The scheme of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom properties will underpin approximately 100 jobs for local people during its construction phase and will bring significant investment to the area.

Silver Hill Manor will deliver a range of high quality, energy-efficient homes, including the refurbishment of the Grade II-listed Building, Silver Hill Farm.

The new community opens the door onto a wide range of essential amenities and is only a stone’s throw from the surrounding countryside.

Cllr Ahmed said: This exciting development will create much needed homes for the residents of our borough.

“Based in a fantastic location, this project will also offer exciting working opportunities for local people, so I can’t wait to see it take shape.”

Set to launch in autumn 2025, Silver Hill Manor gives prospective home buyers the opportunity to reap the benefits of Rochdale’s highly-rated schooling options, alongside convenient access to the M62 and Rochdale train station for commuting further afield.

Andrew Taylor said: “We were thrilled to be joined by the mayor to celebrate the start of construction at our Rochdale development, Silver Hill Manor.

“We are looking forward to seeing this new community take shape ahead of its eagerly anticipated launch later this year.”
