20,000 orders for Land Rover Evoque

LAND Rover has revealed its new Range Rover Evoque model has attracted more than 20,000 advance orders – 6,000 in the UK alone.

The Halewood manufactured vehicle officially goes on sale tomorrow and dealers around the country are staging special events to mark the occasion.

The first customers are expected to take delivery of their vehicles from Friday onwards.

The vehicle is a major deperature from the traditional Land Rover model and the company is marketing the model at a much younger audience.

In keeping with this, the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Phillips has become the first person to take delivery of one of the new vehicles.

Newly-married Ms Phillips drove away the five-door Stornaway Grey Evoque from the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, where she had been competing.

Laura Schwab, Land Rover UK Marketing Director, said: “Zara has been excited about the new Evoque ever since we revealed the first pictures over a year ago and indeed she was one of the very first people to order one.”

On receiving the keys to the new vehicle, Ms Phillips said: “I’ve grown up around Land Rovers and have been an ambassador for the brand for several years – I am really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of my new Evoque. It looks absolutely fantastic and I am delighted to be the first person in the UK to take delivery of one.”

The vehicle awarded to Ms Phillips is a 2.2 litre diesel engine model with six-speed automatic transmission, panoramic sunroof and features including park assist, blind spot monitoring and a surround camera system.
