KPMG sees growing demand from public sector

KPMG in the North West plans to grow its 42-strong performance and technology consulting practice by between 15% and 20%.
In the coming months the firm, which has offices in Liverpool, Manchester and Preston plans to recruit a number of partners and directors to meet expected demand from the public sector.
The expansion is part of a drive to triple the size of its consulting business which, in four years has buit a £200m business employing 1,000 people.
The North West team works with some of the region’s biggest companies including United Utilities, The Co-operatibe Group and Pilkington.
Jonathan Hurst, chairman of KPMG in the North, commented: “As the short-term outlook for the economy remains uncertain, our clients across the region are increasingly turning to us for help and advice on areas such as cost optimisation, financial management or improving their technology systems.
“Looking ahead, we foresee demand for these services to only increase further, especially from organisations across the public sector who will be looking to make efficiency savings in the wake of government spending cuts.”
