Wizz Air to open Liverpool-Vilnius route

WIZZ Air, the low-cost airline operating routes throughout central and Eastern Europe, is to open a new route from Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport to Vilnius.
The airline will operate twice-weekly flights on Mondays and Fridays to the Lithuanian capital from May 28, 2012.
The route will be Wizz Air’s fourth from Liverpool – it already flies to Warsaw, Gdansk and Katowice in Poland. Fares start from £21.99 one way (incl taxes).
Chris Harcombe, Peel Airport’s aviation development manager, said: “We have worked closely with Wizz Air for some time and they are now well established as the airline of choice for many Central and East European passengers.”
Vilnius became joint European Capital of Culture in 2009 – the year after Liverpool held the title. Its old town is also a UNESCO heritage site.
