Create wins £5m Lancs uni deal

BLACKPOOL-based Create Construction has won a £5m contract from Lancaster University to carry out a refurbishment of the 54,000 sq ft Furness Building.
The upgrade is being carried out as part of a major capital investment programme in its campus.
The refurbished building will house four divisions of the University’s School of Health and Medicine as well as some accommodation. It currently has a bar, porters’ lodge, offices and some rooftop apartments, and the upgrade involves putting a new external lift on the North West corner of the building.
The building will be completely refurbished to include new windows, an upgrade of all internal services and the refurb of roof finishes and walkways.
The project will begin this month and is scheduled to take 12 months to complete.
Create Construction is owned by managing director Paul Mathison and marketing director Gill Mathison.
