New plan for Liverpool’s Stonebridge Cross
LIVERPOOL City Council has appointed a consortium to carry out a development study for the Stonebridge Cross area in Croxteth, Liverpool.

LIVERPOOL City Council has appointed a consortium to carry out a development study for the Stonebridge Cross area in Croxteth, Liverpool.

Property consultancy Drivers Jonas, Altrincham-based urban planning firm Planit-ie, transport planners Waterman Boreham and Liverpool-based DK Architects have been appointed to review the 25 hectare site at the northern entrance to the city.

It sits opposite business park Stonebridge Park, which is being developed by St Modwen in partnership with Liverpool Vision.

Simon Bedford, partner at Drivers Jonas, said the study will go on to inform the creation of Development Prospectus for Stonebridge that will allow a viable scheme to be brought forward.

He added: “The site is a hugely attractive opportunity for any developer, with good links to the motorway network and as a north eastern gateway to the city centre.

“Our study will help the eventual masterplan to balance the individual requirements for housing, employment, retail and leisure while ensuring the space is developed in a sustainable way.”

Councillor Peter Millea, executive member for assets and development at Liverpool City Council, said: “Previous plans for the Stonebridge Cross site were halted by the economic climate so the council took the opportunity to take a fresh look at the site, with a particular emphasis on engaging with the local stakeholder community.”
