Energetix granted patent in lucrative US market

ALTERNATIVE energy business Energetix Group has been granted a patent for one of its products in the US.
The Chester-based group consists of three companies – Pnu Power, Genlec and VPhase – which all specialise in marketing cost-effective products which allow companies to back-up their power.
Its Pnu Power subsidiary has now been granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trade Mark Office for its ‘Electrical Power System’.
The US market represents is perceived to offer a strong opportunity for Pnu Power and it follows successful order wins with National Grid US, Harris Corporation and P&E Automation.
The patent – entitled ‘Electrical power Supply System’- covers its ‘uninterruptible power supply’ (UPS) technology.
The patent is valid until December 2023 and follows the granting of the European patent in 2006 and the Chinese patent in 2008.
Its products use compressed air to allow businesses running large-scale data centres – particularly in hot climates – to back-up their power.
Chief executive Adrian Hutchings said: “Whilst we have already made significant progress with Pnu Power in the US market, as demonstrated by orders from the likes of National Grid US, Harris Corporation and P&E Automation, the granting of a US patent will strengthen that existing bridgehead to North America and beyond.
“Watertight intellectual property protection is a primary objective across all three of the Energetix Group’s businesses, enabling us and our shareholders to invest confidently in further product development and rapid global roll-out.”
