E&Y woos FTSE 100 engineer AMEC
ERNST & Young has won international engineering and project management company AMEC – a member of the FTSE 100 – as an audit client.
The £2.5bn turnover company, which operates in 40 countries around the world, has switched its audit from KPMG after 20 years.
A brief statement in the FTSE100 company’s annual results yesterday said the board would recommend the change to E&Y at the group’s annual meeting in May.
“The recommendation follows a formal audit tender process initiated to ensure the company continues to receive best value for its audit services.”
E&Y’s Manchester office will lead the account, which is worth a seven-figure sum annually.
AMEC has eight operational sites in the North West including the Knutsford-based divisional HQ of its nuclear consulting business.
It is quite rare for a FTSE 100 company to change auditors, but AMEC is understood to have been wooed by E&Y’s global capabilities and structure.
