Growth is thanks to pound shops, says Lancashire Tea

LANCASHIRE Tea is attributing recent nationwide growth to its tea being stocked in pound shops.

Founder Paul Needham said pound shops have been an engine of growth for the company, which has moved its factory to a site three times bigger than its previous premises.

“Pound shop customers and their loyalty to Lancashire Tea have contributed enormously towards us moving,” he said.

“The pound shop market is extremely valuable to us and we’d like to acknowledge the wonderful support that pound shop retailers and their customers have shown us.”

Lancashire Tea is now manufactured at the company’s factory on Speke Boulevard, Liverpool, which still forms part of the traditional county of Lancashire. The move heralded the return of tea manufacturing on Speke Boulevard after a 20-year hiatus, and Lancashire Tea is now the only tea bag manufacturer in the county.

Pound shops that currently stock Lancashire Tea are 99p Stores and Poundland. Other well-known nationwide stockists include Home Bargains, B&M Bargains, Heron Foods and Cool Trader, all of whom have been long-term supporters of the brand. Lancashire Tea is also available at supermarkets within Lancashire.
