Former Lancashire dairy site gets outline consent for homes

OUTLINE planning consent has been granted for 196 homes on the former Arla dairy site in Bamber Bridge, Lancashire.

The application to South Ribble Borough Council, submitted by BNP Paribas Real Estate and architects BDP for Arla Foods UK, is for development on the 6.4 hectares former dairy site.

Andrew Thomson, director of Manchester planning at BNP Paribas Real Estate, said: “There is a pressing need for new homes in Lancashire and the grant of permission on this brownfield site together with the interest that is being shown by the housebuilding industry is a very encouraging sign for recovery in the housing market.

“In securing planning consent on the site Arla Foods are confident that the development will benefit Bamber Bridge and enhance the residential offer in the area.”
