Discount retailer expands into Rossendale
HOUSEHOLD and gardening retailer Winner’s Discount Megastore has taken a 10-year lease on a former Kwik Save store in Rossendale.
The 20,000 sq ft unit on New Hall Hey Road has been empty for the past four years is undergoing a refit.
The new store will create around 30 full and part-time jobs when it opens on May 1.
Nigel Thomas, managing director of Nottingham-based Winner’s, said: “This is the first of several stores we have planned to roll out across the country. We firmly believe that Rossendale is the ideal location for us.
We were looking for market towns that weren’t already served by other discount stores and Rawtenstall ticks all the boxes. It has good parking and great road networks.”
Mark Carling, sales director at North West property company Hurstwood, which completed the deal, said: “It comes on the back of a number of other lettings our team has completed in the Rossendale area in recent months and is a clear indicator that there are people prepared to invest in the region.”
