WH Ireland switches to London

WH IRELAND, the stockbroking firm which has traditionally based its headquarters in Manchester, has announced that it is switching its registered office from Manchester to London.

The move will be seen as another sign that influence in the firm is drifting further from its Manchester base.

The company’s chief executive, Paul Compton and chairman Rupert Lowe are both based in its London office, although finance director Alan Kershaw and the head of the firm’s private client divisiom, John Scott, are both based in Manchester. Its Manchester office now houses 85 of a total of 200 staff.

The company’s most recent interim results for the six months to May 31, showed a 30% increase in sales to £11.4m and a profit of £710,000.
