Bolton hotel to be converted into student flats

HAMILTON Black Developments, a Bolton-based development company owned by Javid Saddique, is to convert the town’s former Pack Horse hotel into student flats.
The hotel, on Bradshawgate, had been closed for two years. It had 68 ensuite bedrooms, an 80-seat restaurant and a ballroom with a capacity for 200 guests.
The property was on the market for £600,000, but the sum paid for the building was not disclosed. It was sold by the Manchester office of commercial agents, Colliers.
Associate director Neil Thomson said: ““For many years, the hotel was a thriving town centre business, well-known in Bolton as the place to be, popular for its high profile parties and weddings, bustling bars and busy restaurants.
“The property was re-organised in 2003 when the venue bars on the ground floor were sold off on long leases, with the main core of the hotel being sold separately as an independent business.
“The new owner will be developing the now-closed hotel into high quality student accommodation as it is ideally situated for the University of Bolton. It is planned that this redevelopment will be completed in Spring 2012.”
