Train’s on right lines following administration

A LONG established joinery business based in Rochdale has been bought out of administration by its former director.

Manchester-based administrator Mazars was appointed on April 1 following the administration of A. Train and Sons, based in Whitworth.

It is understood that the company had embarked on a contract construction business which had proved unsuccessful.

The administrator subsequently disbanded the the contracting side of the business with the loss of 17 jobs although it retained the eight members of the joinery team.

Mazars has now agreed terms with former director Anthony Train to acquire the assets of the original joinery business and continue in the current premises.

He has now established a new company called Train’s Joinery.

Tim Askham, partner in the business recovery group at Mazars in Manchester, said: “The Trains joinery business has been in Whitworth since before the last war, and so we are pleased to have agreed terms with Anthony Train.

“This will allow Train’s Joinery to continue now focused on its core business with the retention of its skilled joinery workforce.”
