Appointments: John Allen joins EOS Law ; Lobby role for Stiebel man & more

JOHN Allen, the retired banking heavyweight, has joined new law firm EOS as a consultant.
Allen, who retired in 2009 after 38 years with Barclays, latterly as North of England chairman for Barclays Commercial, will help Manchester-based EOS further develope its presence in the finance and restructuring market.
A former regional councillor for the CBI in the North West and board member of pro.manchester, Allen currently holds a number of non-executive positions, including on the boards of Manchester Building Society, Emerson Developments and Jones Homes, among others.
Based at 82 King Street EOS Law was launched last year by Simon Woolley, a former managing partner at DLA Piper’s Manchester office.
Allen said: “I am delighted to be joining Simon and his team at EOS Law. They are an exciting new entrant to the professional services arena and, given the quality of the people involved, will make a real impact in the market.”

JOHN Felgate, technical director at Wirral-based heat pump manufacturer Stiebel Eltron UK has been appointed as chairman of the Domestic Heat Pump Association (DHPA) Technical Committee.
In the role he will represent the DHPA in advising and lobbying the Department for Energy and Climate Change.
He said: “It is more important than ever that our industry has a strong input into government legislation and that we can influence DECC on incentives such as the Renewable Heat Incentive and Feed In Tariff.”
Felgate is a specialist on green heating technologies and government policy and is also one of the founder members of the Green Power Forum, a national best practice body created to help public and private sector organisations drive down their carbon emissions.

MANCHESTER-based legal recruitment firm Douglas Scott has boosted its team in Yorkshire with the appointment of consultant Nicola Rimmer.
Joining from Tate Recruitment, Nicola has eight years’ experience within both the legal and commercial sectors. Based in Leeds, her remit will primarily involve placing solicitors and fee earners with particular emphasis in personal injury.
Douglas Scott also has offices in Birmingham Liverpool and London.
