In Brief: Kuits on tap for Oast House; ITS shortlisted & more

LAW firm Kuits Solicitors has obtained for the latest leisure venue in Spinningfields.

The The Oast House, which opened thsi week, is a traditional pub concept developed by Knutsford-based Living Ventures – the company behind The Alchemist and Australasia – which are proving popular venues in the business and fashion-focused district.

The Oast House is just off The Avenue, behind the Magistrates’s Court, and has been based on a 17th Century Kentish Oast House – a traditional building which was used for drying hops as part of the brewing process. 

It is his will be Living Ventures’ first pub where locally brewed cask ales and a selection of 40 bottled beers and ciders will be on offer.

Anthony Lyons, licensing partner at Manchester-based Kuits, said: “This is an exciting new concept for Living Ventures and it was great to be involved. 

“We have worked with the team for many years now.  Their recent projects of Australasia and The Alchemist have brought fresh ideas to Manchester, and we are in no doubt that this latest idea will prove to be just as successful.”

INDUSTRIAL Tomography Systems, has been shortlisted at the 2011 Institution of Engineering and Technology Innovation Awards for its groundbreaking work in the field of process tomography.

One of five finalists in the Measurement in Action category, ITS – in conjunction with the University of Leeds and the Institute of Particle Science and Engineering – will look to claim the top prize at the awards, to be held in London on November 9.

Manchester’s ITS launched as an incubator company- bringing products to market that had been developed at UMIST.
