Scaffolding contractor wins £3m Tata tender

SCAFFOLDING and industrial services firm NSG UK has secured a three- year maintenance contract with chemicals giant Tata.

The Deeside business, which works across the UK, has been awarded the £1m-a year contract by Tata Chemicals Europe – formerly known as Brunner Mond –  to provide all scaffolding works at their Northwich manufacturing sites in Winnington, Lostock and Middlewich.

Managing director Mike Carr said: ““This is fantastic news for NSG UK and is the result of a lot of hard work by the team here. We fought off significant competition in the tendering exercise to secure this contract and are delighted to be working with such a renowned multi-national firm as Tata Chemicals.”

Tata Chemicals is the world’s second largest producer of soda ash, which is used in a number of manufacturing processes, including glass,

Mr Carr added: “NSG UK will be providing scaffolding for all the maintenance and intervention works at their Cheshire sites over the course of three years, on plants and buildings of various size and structure.

“As well as securing this contract and maintaining our success in the construction and engineering industries, we are also continuing to expand into a wide scope of sectors, including off shore, transport and social housing.”

The £21m turnover company has a number of other industrial customers including Corus, Lilly, BHP, Cammell Laird, and Ineos. In the construction sector it works with Laing O’Rourke, Balfour Beatty, Shepherd Construction, BAM, Wates, Lovell and Seddon.
