The Hut enters personalised gift market

FAST growing online retailer The Hut Group has announced the launch of Gifted.com – its second consumer goods site in as many weeks.
Gifted.com will compete head-on with the likes of Moonpig and Manchester company Getting Personal in offering personalised cards and gifts, which will be delivered free of charge to customers.
The new site is the second launch in as many weeks by the fast-growing Cheshire company.
Last week the firm unveiled handbag and accessories website Mybag.co.uk, as the first step in a strategy that will also see the group move into the sports, health & beauty, footwear and toys sectors.
The Northwich group said the decision to move into the personalised gifting products sector follows six month trial of selling a range of gifting products on its general retail website, TheHut.com.
Gifted.com will launch next month.
Commercial director Richard Chapple said free delivery would be the brand’s unique selling point.
“It’s a very exciting time for the group, and we believe Gifted has got great growth potential. We see it as a one stop shop for cards and presents.”
Mr Chapple said he expects the business to recruit up to 100 people in the next 12 months to support its growth.
He said Gifted.com and Mybag.co.uk would use the group’s existing technology platform, infrastructure and relationships.
Further specialist site launches are expected in the coming months.
As well as its own retail sites, TheHut.com and Zavvi.co.uk, the company also delivers online solutions for customers including Asda, WH Smith and Shop Direct.
