NORTH West accountants Moore and Smalley has promoted Danny Houghton to partner for business development.

Mr Houghton, 35, was previously director for business development at £10m+ turnover firm which has five North West offices.

He is the firm’s first ever partner with responsibility for business development and marketing.

After joining Moore and Smalley in 2003 from Grant Thornton in Liverpool, he has
led its new business development function, and its brand awareness and overall marketing strategy.

David Ingram, managing partner of Moore and Smalley, said: “Danny has made a significant contribution to the growth of Moore and Smalley over the last seven years and we are very pleased to be able to recognise this success by making him a partner in the firm.”

THE executive chairman of property developer Eatonfield is to leave the troubled firm.

Paul Williams will continue in the role until the end of May, to give the Tarporley-based business time to find a replacement.

Rob Lloyd, group chief executive, said: “I would like to thank Paul for his contribution to Eatonfield since joining the company as group finance director in April 2009 and then following his appointment as executive chairman in June 2009.

“The process of identifying and appointing a successor to Paul will begin with immediate effect.”    

Earlier this month the company revealed it had breached bank covenants and was in talks to agree a standstill agreement.

EDWARD Coulson is joining law firm Davies Arnold Coopers’ insurance group as a partner in its Manchester office .

Mr Coulson, a specialsit in professional indemnity, will join the firm next month from Robin Simon LLP.

PRO.manchester, the public sector group has hired Adele Edgar as skills and education manager.

Adele, who previously worked for Business Link North West, will drive pro.manchester’s commitment to strengthen links between professional services and academia, develop skills for business and attract and retain graduate talent in the Manchester city region.

JOHN Hassells, head of employment law at Bolton-based solicitors KBL, has been promoted to partner.

Mr Hassells  joined KBL in 2007, moving from the Manchester office of Hill Dickinson.

PR firm Weber Shandwick has appointed Claire McLauchlin as an account manager. She will work in the corporate team, but also as part of the agency’s public affairs unit.

Managing director Jo Leah said: “Claire has a natural flair for media relations and her public affairs knowledge is second to none. We’re delighted to have her on board and she has already become an invaluable member of the team”.
