100 NW surveyors win Chartered status

CLOSE to 100 surveyors in the region are celebrating having achieved ‘Chartered’ status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

All 98 have successfully completed the RICS’ Assessment of Professional Competence (APC); a two-to-three year structured programme, which includes practical training, experience and exams, leading to full membership.

David Varley, RICS regional training advisor for the North West, said: “These new professionals have passed the most challenging of assessments to become chartered surveyors, many of them having already completed a property-related degree.”

Nearly 1,000 hopefuls were entered for the most recent RICS APC in the UK, with just over 700 being successful. The North West recorded t he second highest pass rate after Scotland, with 76%.

Mr Varley added: “It’s especially gratifying to see so many surveyors undertaking the APC and passing the exams in the recession.”
