Growth for Austin-Smith:Lord’s landscaping team

ARCHITECTS Austin-Smith:Lord is expanding its landscaping team on the back of existing contracts worth £170m.
Based across its Liverpool and Manchester studios, the landscape team specialises in urban design, master-planning, habitat creation and landscape restoration.
It now wants to appoint new senior landscape architects to its nine-strong landscape team to capitalise on a rising demand.
Since 2009, it has completed £10.5m of projects, including the £2.1m public realm work at Manchester’s Piccadilly Place and the award-winning £1.8m Lower High Street revitalisation in Merthyr Tydfil.
Neil Chapman, partner at Austin-Smith:Lord, said: “With the development market still in recovery, urban realm improvements have become an increasingly attractive way of uplifting inner city environments.
“This, combined with the fact that collaborative work with our architects, urban designers and conservation specialists continues to open up new opportunities for the landscape team, means we see the practice as a compelling area for growth in the North West.
“We already have a healthy pipeline of projects for 2010/2011 and are looking to recruit more talented landscape practitioners to help take the practice forward.”
