SKV launches film division

MANCHESTER PR firm SKV Communications has announced the formation of a film production division in response to an increasing demand for moving image content.

The new arm will be headed up by director Daniel Kennedy as well as two new staff – Dave McCormick and Gary Ellison.

The move follows the company’s success last year when its ‘J’aime La Tour’ viral movie for Blackpool won several awards.

SKV has also recently had a commission from Swinton Insurance to film for its Northern Ireland Open + Direct subsidiary, featuring the cult comedian May McFettridge, and another commission from Marketing Manchester to capture the development and opening of the city’s new visitor centre.

Daniel Kennedy, pictured below, said: “Video content is a key element in a multi-platform world and clients are becoming far more receptive about using moving image to support their wider marketing and communications activity.

“Since the Blackpool movie and all the awards it has collected, doors are opening up. Fusing SKV’s fantastic reputation and communications experience with high quality video and film production is an obvious move.  danielkennedy, skv

“We’ve invested in creating a dedicated in-house film division that is properly resourced and staffed by broadcast professionals who will work closely with the agency’s account teams.

“Dave and Gary are already both very busy creating and producing content for clients such as Swinton and Marketing Manchester and we’ve got numerous commissions already in the pipeline.”

Dave McCormick – who previously he worked as a cameraman for the Royal Navy for over 20 years before freelancing for ITN and ITV – joins as a senior cameraman.

Lancaster University graduate Gary Ellison has been appointed by as a digital editor and producer.
