Deal signed for £9m Higher Broughton scheme

URBAN regeneration firm InPartnership is to develop a new £9m project at Higher Broughton in Salford which will include a GP surgery, dental practice, pharmacy, optician and a large new convenience foodstore.
The work at Newbury Plane represents the fourth phase of an ongoing regeneration programme with Salford City Council. A pre-let for the foodstore element has already been signed with a major UK supermarket group.
InPartnership, which was bought by Sigma Capital last month, has already delivered 250 new homes, a new community facility and refurbished two local schools under the Higher Broughton Partnership. It is also working on detailed planning for the next phase of housing, containing 80 more units, for which a planning application should be submitted in January 2012. The homes will be built by Countryside Properties.
Graham Barnet, chief executive of Sigma Capital, said: “We are delighted to be commencing the fourth phase of the regeneration programme with Salford City Council, which covers the delivery of 30,000 sq ft of healthcare facilities and retail units in Newbury Place, Higher Broughton Salford.
“It is further proof of the successful working relationship that Sigma InPartnership has established with the Salford City Council and benefits of the partnership approach.
“Key to starting the fourth phase was finding a suitable specialist medical facility developer. With our developer now in place, subject to planning consent, we expect the work on the facility to begin in the late spring of 2012.”
