£800k extension for Irlam care home

RESIDENTIAL care home Moorfield House in Irlam has invested £800,000 in an extension and refurbishment, after receiving funding from RBS.

The redevelopment, managed by healthcare construction specialists Decs Group, has created 13 new bedrooms, increasing the home’s number of beds to 33 beds, as well as providing residents with a new day room.

Moorfield House was established 20 years ago by husband & wife team Mary & Stephen Brown.  Situated on Liverpool Road, the home is a former Victorian House that was used as a doctor’s surgery.

Mrs Brown, from Moorfield House, said: “We have operated at full capacity for several years and it has been frustrating having to turn people away. The last time we extended the Moorfield House was 20 years ago so the latest development is overdue.  We look forward to welcoming our new residents.”

In addition to the RBS funding to cover the construction costs, Vajinder Bal from Lombard, the asset finance arm of RBS, provided an additional £80,000 funding package to help equip and kit out the extension.
