Lancs IT firm bought by rival

A BLACKBURN-based IT business has been acquired by a Yorkshire rival.

Control Key has been bought by Concorde Excel Holdings of Leeds which owns IT services company Concorde Informatics. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Control Key employs five staff and specialises in IT security. Directors David Parkinson and Kieron Sykes will continue to manage the business they founded in 1999.

Mr Parkinson, business manager, said: “Control Key was built around providing support services to our clients, and now we are looking forward to wrapping these up with Concorde’s services to provide our clients with a compelling range of managed services.”

Colin Meakin, chief executive of Concorde Informatics, said: “Having the Blackburn team as part of our expanding group will allow us to springboard our enlarged services portfolio into the Lancashire area and increase our coverage accordingly.”

Stephen Gregson, corporate finance director at the accountancy firm Moore and Smalley, and Peter Hine of Marsden Rawsthorn Solicitors advised Control Key. The owners of Concorde were advised by Marcus Armstrong at Lupton Fawcett Solicitors.
