The Hut wins European accolade as top 3 digital firm

CHESHIRE-based entertainment retailer The Hut Group has been recognised as the third fastest growing digital company in Europe.

It won the award at the GP Bullhound Media Momentum awards, which profiles the rising stars of Europe’s digital media community.

The Hut Group delivered 100% compound annual turnover growth during 2007 to 2009, ranking it third in the league table of companies with annual revenues of more than €10m.

Steve Whitehead, The Hut Group’s M&A director, said: “The award recognises our skilled team and the group’s continued focus on serving European consumers and blue chip retailers within the fast moving consumer goods sector.

“The Group’s successes across recently launched sites such as  Zavvi.es and mybag.co.uk and the continued growth of our established sites such as thehut.com, demonstrates that our offering is highly relevant.”

The award follows The Hut Group’s number one ranking in the 2009 Sunday Times Tech Track 100 of the UK’s fastest companies and its £14m pre-IPO equity fundraising completed in April this year, which is being used to fund acquisitions.
