Altium toasts hat-trick of green deals

INVESTMENT bank Altium’s Manchester office is toasting a hat-trick of green deals in as many weeks.

The latest transaction, which completed last week, was the acquisition of ACME Group by Green Sky Energy, parent company of Lancashire-based  Matrix Sustainable Energy Efficiency.

ACME designs, installs and services building control systems, focused on the reduction of energy consumption and subsequent carbon emissions generated by commercial buildings.

Green Sky Energy was formed in March 2010, when Altium advised LDC and management on its acquisition of the Matrix group of companies.

Altium also advised energy-from-waste development company Sunrise Renewables on its official partnership with CHO Power SAS, a subsidiary of French listed renewables company Europlasma.

Its run of environment-related deals began on 18 November when it advised the shareholders of Lancashire company JWS Churngold on its £14.3m sale to Viridor, a subsidiary of listed water and waste company Pennon Group.

Churngold provides waste logistics and transport for the Lancashire PFI waste contract.

Adrian Reed, the Manchester-based head of Altium’s UK Cleantech and Renewables division said: “How we generate and use energy is becoming of increasing importance.

“This is now converging with the treatment and recycling of domestic and commercial waste that has now become a valuable commodity and fuel. Altium’s specialist sector focus allows us to identify and exploit industry wide trends and develop tailored corporate solutions via our extensive trade and financial contacts.”
