AMS on track for maiden divi

WOUNDCARE specialist Advanced Medical Solutions said today it is trading well and is on track to pay a maiden dividend next year.
The AIM-listed company has also started to move into its new headquarters in Winsford and the project is on schedule and on budget.
Chairman Dr Geoffrey Vernon said the board remains “very positive” about the outlook for the rest of this year.
At the company’s annual meeting today shareholders will be told that the company is trading strong compared with this time last year, and its products are being well-received around the world.
Dr Vernon will say: “I am pleased to report that the strong start to the year, highlighted in the preliminary announcement in March, has continued during the first half and that trading is substantially ahead of this time last year and in line with current market expectations for the full year ending 31 December 2010.”
AMS’ LiquiBand product – which has been given approval in the US – has been adopted by three more distribution partners – included the largest pharmaceuticals distributor in North America.
Regulatory approval for sale of LiquiBand has been obtained in Japan and Canada, AMS said.
The company said it is making “good progress” in sales of its ActivHeal product – which includes the use of silver which has been proven to be effective against antibiotic resistant bacteria – to hospital trusts in the UK.
Dr Vernon will say: “We have taken advantage of the pressure on budgets in the NHS to reinforce the positioning of ActivHeal for use with routine wounds, offering trusts significant savings and enabling the use of silver dressings on infected wounds where they are specifically indicated.”
The Corpura business, which makes a polyurethane foam that aids wound healing and was acquired last October, is performing well and has been fully integrated.
