Jobs saved at Lancashire sofa maker

AROUND 30 jobs have been saved at Lancashire furniture maker.

Nelson-based Ideal Furniture Manufacturers, which specialises in making sofas, was placed into administration last month.

Mohammed Aslam, one of the shareholders, has now stepped in to buy the business and assets through a new vehicle.

Joint administrator Robert Adamson of the accountancy firm Mazars said sales had been falling at the firm and an external funder had decided to withdraw support.

Shares in the company were held by Mr Aslam, a director, and Amanda Welch, the wife of director David Welch. Mr Adamson said Ideal’s 27 staff would be kept on following the acquisition.
