Subway brothers on a roll with new shop

BROTHERS Mark and Simon Ledwick have expanded their North West network of Subway franchises by opening a new sandwich shop in Cumbria.

The store in Penrith is the brother’s twelfth North West franchise and their sixth in Cumbria.

NatWest in Preston provided funding for the expansion through the Enterprise Finance Guarantee scheme whereby the Government underwrites bank loans to ensure businesses can access growth finance.

Mark and Simon launched their business in 2006 with a Subway franchise in Workington and quickly expanded by opening outlets in Carlisle, Barrow-in-Furness and Whitehaven.

Last May they acquired three outlets in Lancaster and in January they added two more in Preston city centre. The venture now employs more than 100 people.

Mark, a former management consultant, said: “The new story has been very well received and we are happy with its progress. We remain keen to grow our franchise in Cumbria by opening new stores of acquiring existing outlets in good locations.”
