Evoque racks up 40,000 orders

ORDERS for Land Rover’s new Evoque vehicle have reached more than 40,000 in less than four months, many being placed by customers new to the brand.

The Indian-owned company said it was delighted by the success of the vehicle, which has been underlined by a string of impressive awards.

Its tally of awards already stands at more than 50, many of them from organisations and publications outside the UK.

Of the 53 awards bestowed, a third of them (17) originate from China, which is the focus of much of Jaguar Land Rover’s growth strategy.

John Edwards, global brand director for Land Rover, said: “The speed with which the honours are being collected by the Evoque is breathtaking, as is their global nature. It is a fantastic achievement for all connected with the Evoque project and a great endorsement for the product.

“In addition to these formal titles, the Evoque is daily emerging on top in motoring magazine group tests around the globe, and is winning thousands of admiring new owners. We have now received in excess of 40,000 orders for Evoque, and what is particularly heartening is that many of those have come from customers new to the brand.”

Recent honours bestowed on the Halewood-produced vehicle include the award as 4×4 of the Year by 4×4 Magazine, swiftly followed by the Car of the Year title from the Czech Republic, and Best SUV from the Brazilian automotive news agency Auto Press.

The latter two awards bring to 15 the number of different countries to have recognised the Evoque, which is the smallest, lightest and most efficient Range Rover ever produced.
