Developer wanted for 10-acre site in Oldham

OLDHAM Metropolitan Borough Council is looking for a developer to bring forward a housing scheme on a 10-acre site in the borough.
The council has issued a tender seeking a developer for the site, which is one mile north east of the town centre at the junction between London Rd and Derker St.
Planning approval has already been granted for a residential scheme and the site is entirely in council ownership, although some of the development would be required for social housing which would be operated by Guinness Northern Counties.
“We recognise that developers may not wish to develop in accordance with this permission, however the principle of residential development on this site is clearly established,” the document states.
The land is being offered through a development agreement on a 250-year lease.
More information is available on The Chest North West tender portal – www.thechest.nwce.gov.uk. Expressions of interest must be received by February 15.
