Roxtec secures wind farm deal

SAFETY seal maker Roxtec has landed a deal to supply seals for more than 164 cranes being used to construct the huge Gwynt y Mor windfarm off the coast of the Irish Sea.

The Swedish company, which has its UK base in Bury, said that its deal with crane maker Granada Material Handling meant that its seals had now been used in every offshore wind farm project in Europe.

Managing director Graham O’Hare said: “The wind farm sector is a key growth market for us.

“Our depth of experience and expertise means we are now becoming a wind industry standard. We are determined to build on this and really grow in the sector over the next decade as billions of pounds of investment is ploughed into it in the UK and across the world.”

Gwynt Y Mor is being built 18 miles off the North Wales coast and is expected to supply power to 400,000 UK homes once completed.
