Brooklands Retreat ceases trading

A LANCASHIRE health spa that went into administration last month has now been closed by its administrators, after a buyer could not be found.
Brooklands Health Farm Limited operated Brooklands Retreat, a health spa on the edge of the Forest of Bowland, near Preston.
The main house underwent a £500,000 revamp two years ago and has been a hotel and spa for the past 25 years.
Simon Wilson, Kevin Coates and Anne O’Keefe of Zolfo Cooper were appointed joint administrators on May 19 and continued to trade the business with a view to selling it as a going concern.
Today, administrators said that ongoing losses and the absence of a firm offer for the business meant they had been forced to close the business on Monday. All 23 remaining staff have now been made redundant.
Mr Wilson, partner at Zolfo Cooper said: “Unfortunately, we’ve been unable to secure a buyer for the business since it entered administration and as such have been left with no option but to cease trading with the regrettable loss of jobs.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for their patience and continued professionalism during this intensely difficult period.”
