Loan helps dealer to motor ahead

THE CUMBRIAN office of Barclays has provided funding to help a motor dealer to acquire a rival business in Scotland.

Motor Dealer Group, which has dealerships in the south of Scotland and in Cumbria, has bought the Glen Henderson dealership in Ayr.

The deal means that the Motor Dealer Group now operates nine vehicle franchises from seven sites in Carlisle, Workington, Dunfries, Stranraer and Ayr. The company, which was founded by Mike Fusco in 1977,  now has a turnover of over £80m and employs 262 staff.
