Green Investment Bank bid team to hit Westminster

MANCHESTER’S bid to bring the Green Investment Bank to the city is hitting the Westminster campaign trail.
A senior delegation from the Greater Manchester LEP, inward investment agency MIDAS, think tank New Economy and professional services organisation pro.manchester will meet local MPs next Wednesday.
The delegation with brief MPs on the strong economic and practical case for Manchester becoming home city of the new institution.
Campaign leader John Ashcroft of pro.manchester said: “Exemplifying the strength and calibre of Manchester’s ecosystem in our bid is crucial. We’ve already demonstrated this with the support of the professional and business community and we want to bolster this with political support.
“This briefing session with Greater Manchester’s MPs will further enhance what has undoubtedly been a successful campaign. The reception will provide a great opportunity to present the compelling case to locate the Green Investment Bank here in Manchester.”
Manchester faces a number of rival bids from within and outside the region, including Liverpool and Leeds.
