MBS relaxes MBA entry criteria

MANCHESTER Business School is relaxing its MBA entry criteria, in a move it says will encourage students who would not normally apply to fast track their career.

The business school hopes to encourage higher application rates from home grown talent that can demonstrate strong business potential by offering five places on its full-time MBA programme to those that would not normally be admitted under its usual codes.

There will also be the chance for the chosen candidates to receive a scholarship of up to £17,000, and they will also undertake a paid summer internships with MBS partner companies.

Professor Elaine Ferneley, MBA director at Manchester Business School, said: “The recession has opened up a debate about the future challenges Britain faces in the global business world.

“We believe there is a great need to invest in and develop young British talent that can rise to those future challenges. We hope by opening up our MBA programme to five exceptional, young British candidates we will give them the chance to fast-track their career in business.”

Applicants are required to submit an application that demonstrates their talent as a leader in six areas: learning ability and achievements, experience, potential, cognitive agility, emotional intelligence and personal characteristics.

Short-listed candidates will then be invited to a selection day at MBS where up to five students will be chosen.
