Finnair’s customers become first to use new lounge

AIRLINE Finnair has become the first carrier to use the new ‘Escape Lounge’ at Manchester Airport.

The new lounge in Terminal 1 – which includes separate areas for relaxation and business including a self-contained meeting room – is expected to cater for 100,000 passengers each year.

It also has a Scalextric track and Wii for travellers to use.

Andrew Harrison, commercial director for Manchester Airport, said: ”We set out to create a lounge which would stand out but which also had a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.

“Our aim was to create a memorable experience for both our business and leisure passengers with great ambiance, service and food made to order, and we have incorporated some quirky touches such as the Scalextric track and Wii which will appeal to all ages, and hopefully help our customers to really enjoy the start of their journey.

Christian Wild, Finnair account manager, said: “Finnair passengers are no strangers to luxurious lounges having enjoyed the use of the brand new facilities at Helsinki airport since the start of the year that include the Via spa with airside views from the mineral water pool and 4 different types of sauna.

“Finnair passengers travelling to Asia from Manchester now have the most pleasurable journey experience with the use of the Escape lounge at the start of their journey, our brand new long haul fleet with increased customer facilities and a smooth hassle free transit through Helsinki airport’s new terminal, lounge and spa before arriving at their chosen destination refreshed.”
