Co-op’s Marks joins pro.manchester conference line-up

PETER Marks, head of the Co-operative Group, the region’s biggest businesses, will share his thoughts on the business environment and give a hint on future plans when he joins the speaker line-up at the pro.manchester Business Conference next month.
Mr Marks, who has risen through the ranks at the mutual organisation, and helping its grow to £14bn turnover, has been a voracious deal-doer in the last few years, adding retail group Somerfield and Britannia Building Society to the group and in talks to acquire 630 branches from Lloyds Banking Group.
He will address delegates at the Manchester Business Conference on March 1 at The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club on his vision for the future.

Other high profile speakers include Goldman Sachs’ star economist Jim O’Neill, Angela Knight from the British Bankers Association’s Angela Knight and David Miles from the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee.
The event will be hosted for a second year by Newsnight duo Kirsty Wark and Gavin Esler and will be held at the The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club on 1st March 2012.
