Forward sales kick off site starts for Bardsley

BARDSLEY Construction has said it is bucking a national trend for stalled schemes by beginning work on new phases at three of its developments in Greater Manchester.

The Dukinfield-based housebuilder said that it has already started on phase two of a 14-home project at Dukinfield Golf Club and a ten-home phase at The Boatyard in Worsley. It will also build out the remainder of a scheme at King Edward Court at Gee Cross near Hyde after gaining planning consent to finish the scheme.

The firm said that work recommenced after selling £2m worth of properties on the three sites in just ten days back in April. To date, eight of The Boatyard properties and three of the Dukinfield properties have agreed sales.

Bardsley Construction chairman Wayne Bardsley said: “We are delighted to start building again on these important sites. We are a traditional building company who employ our own skilled tradesmen, so it’s heartening to see our staff busy again.

The company said that despite the economic downturn it had managed to hold onto its 213 members of staff. In the 18 months to December 31, 2009, the company posted a pre-tax loss of £1.9m on sales of £86.1m.
