Clive Memmott named new chamber chief

GREATER Manchester Chamber of Commerce has named Clive Memmott as its new chief executive.

The Chamber, the country’s largest with 5,300 members, said Mr Memmott, a qualified lawyer working most recently at Robinson Keane, the recruitment firm, would start work in September.

He will replace Angie Robinson, who is leaving the organisation this year after a decade in the role, to take up the post of chief executive at MIDAS, Greater Manchester’s inward investment agency.

David McKeith, chairman of the Chamber said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Clive is joining us at the UK’s largest and most successful Chamber.

“He brings with him an outstanding track record of business knowledge and achievements. We are very much looking forward to having him on board.”

Mr Memmott has a background in both marketing and manufacturing and has undertaken a sumber of senior leadership roles in a variety of industry sectors.

He is an Honorary Research Fellow of Lancaster University Management School and has co-authored a book on improving business performance through effective and practical employee engagement – “Growing your own Heroes”.
