Rugby tours firm scrums down with bigger group

A SMALL company set up by two enterprising gruaduates to organise school sports tours, has been snapped up by a larger firm.
Stockport-based Tours 4 Sport has become part of Nottinghamshire-based Halsbury Travel, in a deal which will allow the business to fulfil its growth potential.
Sam Jennings, who launched Tours for Sport in 2005 with Danield Smith, told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We’re both staying with the business and are excited about our future prospects as part of a larger operation.
“Although we were still growing – the business has been pretty resilient over the last couple of years – we felt that by consolidating our operations and software this would out-strip our organic growth.”
Mr Jennings, 30, who plays for Burnage Rugby Club in Heaton Mersey, runs the rugby club tours part, while Mr Smith, who is based in Oxford looks after other sports such as football and netball and also assists schools who want to organise a single trip involving a number of sports.
Mr Smith, said: “Halsbury Travel is ATOL and ABTA bonded as well as being a member of the School Travel Forum which will ensure that we can work with every school in the UK as well as continuing to work with universities and clubs to organise their sports tours.”
“The synergy between Halsbury and Tours 4 Sport is obvious; both are rapidly growing companies in niche markets with huge growth potential over the next few years alone. We look forward to many more years of success as part of Halsbury Travel.”
