New £4.1m Wallasey eco homes scheme opens

A NEW £4.1m development of 36 eco-friendly homes for rent has been opened at Rice Lane and Springfield Place in Wallasey.

The site, which was previously home to terraced houses dating back to 1919, has been redeveloped by Cosmopolitan Housing Association and Lovell Partnerships Ltd to provide 36 new homes that include a mix of two, three and four-bedroom bungalows and houses.

Each property has its own solar panels to provide hot water, smart electricity meters and automatic water meter readers, as well as their own rear gardens and parking spaces.

The Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Moira McLaughlin, joined residents of Springfield Place and Rice Lane, Wallasey to celebrate the completion of their new homes.

Cllr George Davies, Wirral Council’s cabinet member for Housing and Community Safety, said: “It is great to see a new scheme come to life in one of our former Housing Market Renewal areas, providing high-quality, affordable and energy-efficient homes for Wirral residents.”

Cosmopolitan Housing group chief executive John Denny said: “We are delighted with the feedback from residents on Springfield Place and Rice Lane about the quality of this flagship development and how quickly they have settled in.

“This development delivers cutting edge eco-living at a very high standard on Merseyside.”
