Media Mix: Man City; Citypress toasts food success

MANCHESTER CIty Football Club will break new bounds in social media this weekend when club captain Vincent Kompany takes part in the Premier League’s first live post-match interview driven by Twitter and Facebook.

After tomorrow evening’s home fixture with Blackburn Rovers, Kompany will speak to both the usual press and broadcast media, and also engage supporters.

Fans are being given the chance to ask their questions by simply tweeting their requests to @vincentkompany, using the hashtag #askvincent. Those not on twitter need not worry, as they can also post their questions on Vincent’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/vincentkompany.

The interview will also be streamed live across the club’s official Facebook page, the official website and Youtube channel.

Vincent Kompany says: ““I just wanted to use social media to give ours fans the chance to have their voices heard, instead of shouting at the TV, wishing the interviewer would ask the kinds of questions that really matter to them.”
The live Q&A starts at 8pm.

MANCHESTER PR agency is toasting two new contract wins in the food sector.

The agency has been appointed by Sale-based business Clippy’s Apples and Charbrew, one of the UK’s fastest-growing specialist tea brands.

Clippy’s was founded by former Masterchef contestant ‘Clippy’ McKenna who started her business and brand in her kitchen and now has an expanding range of jams and preserves sold in over 1,000 supermarkets across the UK.

Citypress has kicked of a PR campaign for the brand by generating national media coverage for Clippy’s battle against EU rules which are preventing the business labelling its products as jam.

The firm is also working with Charbrew, one of the UK’s fastest-growing speciality tea brands.

Charbrew was founded by entrepreneur Adam Soliman from his parents’ house when he was just 21. He now supplies products nationally to Sainsbury’s, Booths Supermarkets and other major retailers.

Charles Tattersall, Citypress managing director, said: “Clippy’s and Charbrew are fantastic entrepreneurial businesses and brands that have been built from scratch by their owners from humble beginnings.

“We’re leveraging our experience in the food and drink sector to support the companies as they expand their national distribution and consumer awareness. They have huge future potential and we’re pleased to be on board to support them on their journey to even bigger success.”
