McHale looks for growth home and away

LAWYER Andrew McHale is targeting local growth at the same time as launching a new venture in the Republic of Ireland.

The entrepreneurial Altrincham-based McHale is hiring a new head of family law, Steve Pinnington, to help step into the breach left by Pannone – the city centre firm which has closed its small district offices in Hale and Alderley Edge.

Mr Pinnington will join McHale and Co from larger North West firm Butcher & Barlow in the coming months.

In Ireland he and partner Michael Muldoon have set up McHale Muldoon in Dublin which is targeting PPI claims and bankruptcy services among other services including sports law.

He told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We see a real opportunity in Ireland, where the mis-selling of payment protection insurance policies by the banks is pretty similar to what we’ve seen here.

“We’ve already hit the headlines in the Irish media with one case we’ve won, and we’re expecting to see more.”

He sees a significant opportunity too in helping Irish nationals get back on their feet after becoming bankrupt – we’ll handle everything for them, including UK residency.”

“We are using EU legislation to help people discharge themselves quicker from bankruptcy in the UK as Irish laws are really strict.”

He said the appointment of Mr Pinnington is a significant step too: “I think Pannone had it right by offering a high quality local service, so with them withdrawing to focus on the city centre, we see an opportunity to step into the void they leave – and we know that other firms are thinking the same as us too.”

“Steve has done a great job at Butcher & Barlow and will be an excellent addition to our team.”
