Cumbrian franchisee buys two new McDonald’s outlets

HBN Restaurants has taken on two new McDonald’s franchises in Barrow-in-Furness after securing a £700,000 loan from NatWest.
HBN Restaurants now owns seven restaurants in Cumbria following the purchase of the McDonald’s on Dalton Road and at the Hollywood Bowl in Barrow. Its existing outlets are in Carlisle, Workington, Whitehaven, Penrith and Kendal.
The business is owned by husband & wife team Chris and Susan Nicholls, who set up the business in 2001 having both previously held management positions with McDonald’s.
The firm has now become one of Cumbria’s largest private sector employers, with more than 400 staff.
Chris Nicholls said: “We are keen to grow the franchise by acquiring quality restaurants in prime locations.
“Both of these outlets are well established and have a loyal customer base. This is our first move into Barrow-in-Furness and we look forward to welcoming both existing and new customers.”
NatWest relationship manager Liz Lunt said: “We have worked with HBN Restaurants since its launch and are once again delighted to provide funding to help them expand.”
