Eddisons auction brings in £3.2m

AUCTIONEER Eddisons has revealed that its first auction of the year pulled in almost £3.2m as 58 of the 92 available lots sold.
The highlights included a freehold development at the former Whittams Mill site on Plumbe Street in Burnley. The 2.18 acre site was sold for £110,000 off a guide price of £90,000-plus.
Elsewhere, The Elms Hotel on North Parade in Llandudno sold for £250,000, while tenanted shop with a two-bed flat above on Barkerhouse Road in Nelson sold for £66,000. It has an annual rent of £8,060, thereby offering a return of over 12%.
A two-bed mid-through terraced house on Coal Clough Lane in Burnley was sold for just £11,500.
Andrew Brown of Eddisons said: “Although the market remains price sensitive, there was a definite mood of quiet confidence among buyers who clearly came with cash to invest , which meant many lots generated multiple interest.”
Last week, Sutton Kersh announced that its first Merseyside auction of the year raised £4.3m, with 70% of the 97 lots in the catalogue either selling before, during or just after the auction.
The firm said it was its best auction result in Merseyside since September 2009.
